Tau Sigma Delta Medal Awarded to designLAB

Just two weeks ago at the Providence Art Club, designLAB received the Tau Sigma Delta Medal, a national award for outstanding service in the field of architectural education. The award was presented by Dean Stephen White on behalf of Roger Williams University’s (RWU) School of Art, Architecture and Historic Preservation.

Since 2008, designLAB has had the privilege to teach four graduate level studio courses through the Community Partnership Center (CPC) at RWU. They initiated the first design studio with the CPC, helping President Farish realize his mission to integrate ‘practice based’ learning across all disciplines. Students have developed analysis, feasibility, programing and design solutions for the Bristol Community Arts at the Walley School, the Meeting House School, the Providence Public Library, and the Historic Mt. Hope Farms Trust, all extraordinary nonprofit organizations that benefit their local community.

designLAB is extremely proud of the analysis and design work produced by the students, which has provided the clients with research that has refined their vision, engaged their community stakeholders, and has even resulted in built work. TSD hopes this award highlights designLAB’s commitment to mentorship and the advancement of design education.
